Musicland selects MercuryCloud for "Graze" project
March 2005
SEATTLE, March 2005 – MercuryCloud, a full service agency, announces that it has been selected by Musicland, the parent company of the Sam Goody national music chain, to create a cutting edge digital brand known as Graze. This new concept revolves around interactive kiosks featuring wireless content distribution, placed directly in Sam Goody stores or through stand-alone locations in malls. The project is expected to debut in the fall of 2005.
The Graze kiosks will allow consumers to search, preview and quickly purchase ring tones, wallpaper and games for their mobile phones. This project is one of the catalysts intended to connect with the youth market and create a social and entertainment experience. “With everybody carrying music now…there’s no reason to take a trip to a music store,” Rob Willey says, Musicland’s senior vice president of corporate development. “This is about transforming Musicland from a music store to a ‘lifestyle’ store.”
“We are excited to be working with Musicland on developing the Graze brand and pleased to be providing new merchandising initiatives,” says James Robinson, Principal and Creative Director of MercuryCloud. “We look forward to helping Musicland create more meaningful interactive experiences that will allow them to reconnect with their customers.”
